Damn The Man

Power.

What comes to mind when you hear or see this word?

Is it having all cards in your hand, free to call out whatever suit you want, and it doesn’t matter whether or not you’re bluffing because you’re in charge?

Is it being able to get people to think what you want them to think?

How about doing whatever you want to do, knowing that no one will bother telling you any different because you hold the power?

I’m sick of power.  I’ve never held it, and I don’t care to.  I’ve seen how people use it, whether it be for their own personal gain or just to make people jump when they tell them to, and to me, it’s off-putting.

This is where people usually say, “Fuck the man.”

I say they’re right.

Some people like to argue that power is a good thing.  Let’s think about this.  Where did power get Enron?  Or Madoff?  Or Nixon?  My point exactly.

The Man is the head of “the establishment” put in place to “bring us down.” Though nobody has physically seen “the man,” he is assumed to be a male caucasian between the ages of 25-40 and is rumored to have a substantial amount of acquired wealth, presumably acquired by exploiting those whom his “establishment” is “keeping down.”
