Life and Jujubees

  1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?  That’s a tough one … I’m young-at-heart, but I also have my head on straight.  I would day mid-twenties … which is pretty much what I am now anyway.
  2. Which is worse, failing or never trying?  Never trying is failure in itself, isn’t it?
  3. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?  We do things we don’t like because we have to.  Often, we don’t even know whether or not we like them until after we’ve done them.  As for things we don’t do, well, we could be too scared, or unsure.  Or, those are things we’ve discovered that we don’t like. :)
  4. When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?  Absolutely not. :)
  5. What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?  There’s way too much greed.  Money is a lousy way of keeping score.
  6. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?  Being a mother.
  7. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?  I am definitely doing what I believe in.  Settling for something, to me, is failure.  Failure is less than ideal, and it’s definitely not something I would ever settle for.
  8. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?  I don’t think I would do anything different — I am very content with where I am.
  9. To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?  I didn’t actually start to grab the reigns until after I had Carter (my son).  Before, this life was a roller coaster and I was here for the ride.  Now, I understand that there is a little being who depends on me to make good decisions and to provide a great life for him.  I have to do that — it’s my ultimate job.  I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I’m much happier knowing that I really can have a say in where this life takes me.
  10. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?  Doing the right things.  Life is about making mistakes and learning from them.  I don’t care so much about the process of how I do things — I care about the difference between right and wrong.
  11. You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire.  They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend.  The criticism is distasteful and unjustified.  What do you do?  I quickly change the subject.  I would rather not get involved.
  12. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?  Just smile. :)
  13. Would you break the law to save a loved one?  Absolutely.
  14. Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?  No … at least, not yet.
  15. What’s something you know you do differently than most people?  I am able to have that divide between professional and personal.  I see a lot of people who make friends at work and let it affect their job performance and their social life.  You can’t do that and be successful.  You have to know where that line is, and make sure you don’t cross it.
  16. How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy?  I’m me. Everyone is different.  One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
  17. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?  What’s holding you back?  Made it to the top of my career ladder.  But don’t worry — I’ll get there.  I’m well on my way. :)  The only thing holding me back is my lack of experience — I still have quite a bit to learn.  I would rather know what I’m doing than go in unprepared.
  18. Are you holding onto something you need to let go of?  I don’t think so.
  19. If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?  New York City.  It’s full of life.
  20. Do you push the elevator button more than once?  Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?  No, I don’t.
  21. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?  A joyous simpleton, all the way.
  22. Why are you, you?  Why not?  I would rather be me than be a clone of everyone else.  Being me brings excitement, as does being you.  I like what I like, I love who I love, I dislike what I dislike, I agree with what I agree with, and that’s that.
  23. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?  I truly have.  I keep my word and I defend those I love.  When someone starts to act out in a way I wouldn’t associate myself with, I back away and let the friendship fade on it’s own.  It’s better than a confrontation.
  24. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?  Losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you.  You can make up any excuse that comes to mind, but really, there’s no good excuse if it was a true friendship to begin with.
  25. What are you most grateful for?  My family.  They make me who I am, and they pick me up and dust me off when I need it most.
  26. Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?  That’s a tough question.  Old memories make me feel all warm and fuzzy …. but life is about taking chances and making new ones, so I guess that’s what I would pick.
  27. Is is possible to know the truth without challenging it first?  Absolutely. It’s called Faith.
  28. Has your greatest fear ever come true?  No.  My greatest fear is Failure, and I’ll never let that happen.
  29. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset?  Does it really matter now?  It doesn’t matter anymore.  It was a dumb guy, and he was incredibly immature.  From what I hear, not much has changed…
  30. What is your happiest childhood memory?  What makes it so special?  My great-grandmother used to always have Three Musketeers candy bars and Apricot juice for me when I would come over.  We would play Go Fish all the time.  She died when I was 5 or 6 from Breast Cancer.  I didn’t even know she was sick until she was gone.
  31. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?  Any time I look at my son. :)
  32. If not now, then when?  Never.  Why wait?
  33. If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose?  Nothing to lose, so much to gain.
  34. Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever?  Not really … lol.
  35. Why do religions that support love cause so many wars?  Because every religion thinks it’s the right religion and they see their fights as justified.  Now, in that same answer, I will say that there is only one true religion.  So stop fighting and accept it already.
  36. Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil?  Yes and no.  There’s the Bible, which lays it out for us.  As far as people go, sometimes you have to get to know the person.  Once they get comfortable, the true colors come out.  Then you’ll know.
  37. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job? No, because after taxes, I’ll be lucky to get 600,000 of that million back.
  38. Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing?  I’m fine with my work as it is.
  39. Do you feel like you’ve lived this day a hundred times before?  Yes.  Typical, boring weekend.
  40. When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in?  Never…
  41. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?  My family.
  42. Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous?  No way.
  43. What is the difference between being alive and truly living?  Being alive is merely existing.  Truly living is more than that — it’s actually doing things to make your life worthwhile.
  44. When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right?  Birth.
  45. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?  Mistakes are hard to deal with, and it often takes time for the outcome of that mistake to subside.  No one likes to go through that.
  46. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?  That’s for me to know. ;)
  47. When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing?  Sleeping.
  48. What do you love?  Have any of your recent actions openly expressed this love?  I love my life.  I express this in my actions daily.
  49. In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday?  What about the day before that?  Or the day before that?  Probably not.  I will, however, remember the important things, and the little things that became important. :)
  50. Decisions are being made right now.  The question is:  Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you?  I’m independent — it’s all I’ve ever known.  I’m capable myself. :)
